Our Charges

Legal aid is not available in most family law cases but it is available for family mediation.

If you receive Universal Credit it is very likely that you will qualify for legal aid and mediation will be free for you. If you have a low income you may qualify for legal aid too. We will assess you for legal aid as part of your mediation assessment meeting.

If you qualify for legal aid but your former partner doesn’t, your legal aid will cover the cost of their mediation assessment meeting and the first joint mediation session too.

If you don’t qualify for legal aid, we will discuss our private fee structure with you at your mediation assessment meeting.

If you don’t qualify for legal aid and would like to discuss your children at mediation, then we can also apply for a grant to assist with your mediation fees, under the government’s Mediation Voucher Scheme.  Your mediator will discuss this with you at your initial assessment meeting.

Assessment meetings

This fee covers the assessment meeting, any administration charges in connection with that meeting, making attempts to encourage the other party to attend mediation and providing you with the certificate you need to go to court if mediation doesn’t go ahead.

Joint mediation meetings

This fee covers preparing for the mediation meeting, the meeting itself, preparing a detailed report after the meeting and any letters and telephone calls – on average this covers 4-5 hours work.

If you do not qualify for legal aid one thing we guarantee is that our mediation fees will be a fraction of the cost of going to Court.
